Sound problem - no voice in any cinematic
I don't hear any character's voice during cinematics, but I hear all other sounds perfectly. Not sure when it started, it could be since the preview, or since the patch on thursday, 14th of sept.
Anyway, I've downloaded the newest sound drivers (realtek ac 97), tried all combinations of sound quality and hardware 3d audio (both with EAX and without) in GW, nothing works....
Does anyone have an idea how to fix it?
P.S. I've decided to download all possible updates for my win XP (pro, SP2), any chance that'll help ?

Since the updates quite a few people are having trouble with certain sounds in the game, strangely everybody are having different sound problems.
Mine is when i run with my ranger, i get no sound and when i fire a poison arrow, there used to be a flight sound, now there isn't.
ANET needs to fix this pronto.

I have that thing too - certain skills are 'silent', others not, some even are only 'partialy silent'.
But still, that's only a minor annyance compared to my main problem....I want to hear Koss/Melonni/Myself/others in Elona before the event finishes >_<

I've reinstalled GW a few days ago and that helped with voices and some skills, but i still have a feeling like some skills are missing sounds...

No sound in the cinematics and none of those new, fancy armor sounds since around the Nightfall preview.
I've also had sound problems after the Factions preview. Fire all your programers Anet, seriously...
(PLZ bump until it's fixed)

Try going to your options > sound, if any of the bars are to the left, put them to the right. Mine were, and I couldn't figure out why I was getting no sound.. Usually I only move Music, Background Music and Effects volume with the other two to the left all the time. Fixed my problem.

To solve the cinematics problem uninstall GW, and then install it again using the online instalator. (Idk if installing from cds will help)

I actually started having this problem when I reinstalled Guild Wars using the online client, at first I thought that the sound data hasn't simply downloaded yet so I installed it again from CDs. And since it didn't fix the problem, I've checked the forums and BEHOLD, I'm not alone !
Lowering sound quality also doesn't seem to work, though it worked with Factions before the problem miraculously "fixed itself" after a month or so.

Well, reinstalling helped me, so that's why I adviced it....
Try installing all the newest drivers, then maybe reinstall once again, and then try asking the support (be sure to send them the dxdiag.txt file too)
